Just a babysitter

As a new parent, I had no idea how Childminding worked. I put my trust in a (to begin with) stranger,

dropped my child off, and collected him at the end of the working day. Daunting. But they're just babysitting right?

Incorrect.

I was so wrong. And my Husband was also just as much in the dark as I was.

Childminding consists a minimum of:

Hours of compulsory classroom studying

Enlisting on the Early Years/Childcare register

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

12 hours Paediatric First Aid

Health Check from GP

Ofsted Inspections

Continuous Professional Development (continuous research - weekly)

Insurance cover including appropriate car and Public Liability Insurance

- Childminders can care for up to 6 children up to the age of 8.

- No more than 3 of these children can be between birth and 5 years old.

- Only one child under 1 year old can be cared for.

Becoming a childminder has not been a cheap, quick or easy career to adopt.

But, it is a career that can't be successful, unless you are 100% dedicated and devoted to it.
